The Immortal Gunfighters
The 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month a show based on reenactments of old west events is held at hign noon in Cyanide Springs.
The Wild Roses
Every 2nd and 4th Saturday mock gunfights are held at Cyanide Springs. The Wild Roses of Chloride, the world's only all-female gun-fighting troupe perform hilarious skits involving gun battles, bank robberies, catching cattle rustlers (usually a member of the audience), mock weddings (usually a male from the audience is chosen to marry one of the Roses), and a host of other Wild West frivolities.
St Valentine's Day
The Saturday prior to February 14, the town, and any visitors wanting to join in, enjoy a Valentine's Day dinner and dance. A pie baking contest is judged during the evening festivities and everyone in attendance can enjoy the delicious baked goods instantly after the winner is announced.
St Patrick's Day
St Patrick's Day festivities are held the first Saturday prior to March 17, if March 17 is not a Saturday. They include a large parade, mock gunfights, a raffle, area shops holding sales, vendors hawking their wares, local restaurants serving corned beef and cabbage and, in general, everyone has a great time.
All Town Yard Sale
Citizens of Chloride and the surrounding community hold an all town yard sale the first Saturday in May and October. Lots of bargains on antiques and general junk are available. The Historical Society of Chloride traditionally holds a bake sale and includes some of the finest pastries ever eaten by human beings.
Old Miner's Day
Old Miner's Day commences the last Saturday in June and is the biggest event of the year for Chloride. Festivities commemorate mining days when Chloride was the silver mining capitol of Arizona. No one is sure of the exact number of years this occasion has taken place, but rumors say over 100 years. A large parade starting at 11 am, mock gunfights, a huge number of vendors hawking their wares, pie baking contests, a bake sale, raffle for door prizes, a 50-50, great food and nice trophies are the norm.
Christmas in Chloride Every Thursday evening in December until Christmas, all shops and restaurants are open until 8:00 p.m. Enjoy the lights, the shops, the
quaintness that is Chloride. Free desserts and beverages at each shop and free chances to win prizes are available. Slow down and enjoy the season!
Local Chloride Attractions
In Chloride
The town itself, the old bank, old train station, jail, Cyanide Springs, murals, mines, and mine shafts. There are lots of trails for hiking, biking, off road riding, and horseback riding. Above the town are two BLM campgrounds: Windy Point and Packsaddle. From this vantage point a person can see land in four different states: Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah. The view is absolutely spectacular.
Grand Canyon West
Pierce Ferry Road takes you past the Joshua Tree forest and to the road leading into the Grand Canyon from the west side. Be sure to bring a camera and lots of film.
Laughlin, Nevada
Laughlin and it's casinos boast the small town atmosphere once offered by Las Vegas. The Colorado River passes by and there are many businesses offering tours as well as jet-ski and boat rentals.
Oatman, Arizona
Oatman sits on the old Route 66 and offers a variety of shops and tourist attractions, including wild burros which roam through town.
Gold Road Mine
The Gold Road Mine is located just outside of Oatman and offers daily tours into one of the richest mines in US history. One mine shaft goes directly under Route 66. It is a tour well worth taking.
Keepers of the Wild Animal Park
Located on US HWY 93 mile marker 29, this sanctuary is home to numerous wild animals including lions, Bengal tigers, purebred wolves and other fascinating creatures. There are daily tours and visitors may sponsor various animals.
Joshua Tree Forest
On the way to the Grand Canyon West, this magnificent forest is a tourist favorite.
Hoover Dam
The tallest dam in the western hemisphere, this attraction is visited by thousands each year. A tour into the heart of the dam is a must-see for anyone visiting for the first time.
